Autofind Missing Links like in Indesign
When I'm relinking a missing image in Indesign, it automatically finds other missing links in the same folder that a relinked to. It would be life changing if Illustrator did the same. Currently you have to manually relink each missing link which can become very tedious.
161 votesHello all, auto-find missing links feature is available in all the public builds starting V28.4. Please try out the functionality and let us know what you think!

Relative paths for linked assets
An option to use relative paths for linked assets. Because links use absolute paths, simply moving the folder your artwork is in will break the links unless the links are in the same folder. For example:
c:\artwork\project-1234\layout.ai
c:\artwork\project-1234\assets\logo.jpg
c:\artwork\standard-title-block.aiIf logo.jpg and standard-title-block.ai are both linked to inside of layout.ai, renaming the project folder will break the links. Moving the project folder will break the links.
Instead of storing the link paths absolutely, store them relatively. This way at least renaming the folder will preserve both links and moving the folder will only break links that point to file outside…

16 bit mode for Illustrator
When creating Illustrations with gradients, we can only use 8bits. When imported in Photoshop or After Effects 16bits projects, the gradients stick to this poor 8bits - resulting in banding.
Especially when working on normal/displacement maps for 3d materials, 8bits is not enough.
How great would it be if Illustrator had a possibility to switch to 16 or 32 bit mode!

An ability to copy/paste appearance attributes / styles
I would LOVE to be able to copy appearance attributes!
It would be VERY helpful if I could copy the appearance of one item and paste to apply them to another, instead of having to do everything over again for each item.61 votes -
Right Click Menu Enhancements (Cut, Copy, Paste, Lock, Unlock, etc)
Can you please add simple tasks like "Lock / UnLock" and "Cut, Copy, Paste" to the the right-click menu? This would help speed up workflow and make illustrator more integrated with other Adobe products. I can right-click my mouse and quickly copy and paste in Indesign and even in Microsoft Word, but not in Illustrator? It's odd. Please consider fixing this. Thank you.
53 votesIllustrator today has Cut, Copy, Paste and other Paste variants in the context menu.
However, Lock and Hide are missing still. Please continue voting and commenting if you need these items.

TouchBar customization
Can you please make available the option to customize the MacBook Pro Touch Bar in Adobe Illustrator. The new MacBook Pro Touch Bar is very useful and handy. The shortcuts that I can use with the Touch Bar save me a lot of time.

Quick Look support for .ai files in MacOS
Selecting a file in the MacOS Finder and then pressing spacebar to preview the file is one of the great features of the OS. It works with image files of many types as well as PDF files, etc. But not .ai files. Please build a Quick Look extension to add this support. Thanks.

Chromebook / ChromeOS compatibility
My school is considering purchasing a laser cutter/engraver to be housed in the Library for all students to use, and I understand that we will also need to purchase software such as Adobe Illustrator. The problem is that many of our students use Chromebooks, which really don't have a hard drive. We're not in favor of just having 1 or 2 Windows machines sitting by the cutter/engraver, mostly because that limits usage. Is there any other option? Does Adobe offer a Chromebook-compatible software? Or, is there any way that a student could design something in another program, then import it…

Add Linux Support
It would be great if the Adobe Apps were fully cross-platform compatible. We already have Mac support so the precedent further *Nix OS support seems reasonable. This would help me immensely as this barrier is the ONLY thing that keeps me tied to both Mac OS and Windows in addition to Ubuntu. Currently I have to deal with either:
1. A shoddy WINE installation of the aging CS6 apps
2. A windows VM which is painful for the type of development work I do around IllustratorThis would also lead to some further cost / performance benefits with the systems…

Make Illustrator PDFs more automatically accessible
Accessibility is incredibly important. Obviously Adobe wants to help but it is incredibly limited in Illustrator. If you supply multiple artboards, character and paragraph styles and great text placement options, you should make the PDF export carry those options through. What's the point of using InDesign when you only have two pages? Who needs to files for every project?

Get rid of Adobe Stock
I am really really sick of having Adobe Stock rammed down my throat. I don't want it, never will. Give me the option to turn it off!

Support for Windows 64-bit (ARM64) devices (including Copilot+)
Illustrator and Photoshop support for ARM64 devices would be great. I own a Surface Pro X and would love to continue using Core Adobe apps on that device. 32 bit performance is quite poor.
33 votesIllustrator Beta is now live on Windows for ARM devices (with Qualcomm Snapdragon X-Elite processors) through emulation mode — for the English locale.
The product team is actively exploring the availability for non-English users, and expects it to be available in a future releases.

Font identification
Provide an automated routine to identify fonts that were converted to outlines, or that are in a bitmap format.
32 votesHello,
We have started working on the tech that allows us to enable the following:
- Ability to convert the outlined/expanded text back to live text.
- Ability to lock objects to a character/glyph of a live text, allowing users to change the text (properties) while the object stays locked into the character.
As we work through the complexities of handling different font families, font size, and other font properties, we would love to meet with you and share our thinking around it and understand :
- Your use cases and workflows that this feature will help you with.
- What is most essential for you.
- The workarounds that you currently use to achieve this.

Show missing link path/locations like InDesign. (To make relinking an image simple)
In the Link Panel - Indesign shows the file path for placed images and links (even when missing or embedded). In Illustrator's Link panel these path/locations are greyed out with no text, thus making finding a missing file purely guess work. Can the Indesign Links Panel be directly replicated to Illustrator so absolutely the same? Cheers

When will it be possible that Adobe Illustrator to create and import objects of more than 32000 points?
When will it be possible that Adobe Illustrator to create and import objects of more than 32000 nodes? Why is it still cannot (at the end of 2017)? It is a very big limitation for those of us who work in mapping projects (because the vector geometries are in need of a great graphic definition).
An added problem is that even though we use specific plugins of cartography (Avenza MAPublisher, for example) like they work in Adobe Illustrator they suffer the same limitation and they do not suppose any alternative…
By when a definitive solution?

Allow Customization of The Features In Properties Panel (2018)
I would like to be able to rearrange (customize) the features in the new 2018 properties panel. I want to be able to add, remove and rearrange the features in the panel. This way the panel will only shows what I want it to show and get ride for the stuff I don't use. I would like to at least be able to collapse what I don't use.

Better anti-aliasing
Long time ago I abandoned Xara and moved to Illustrator full-time.
I managed to solve all problems I had encountered with, but several things still bug me.One of them is this:
https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447-illustrator-bugs/suggestions/31525333-minus-front-on-grouped-objects
https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447-illustrator-bugs/suggestions/32954797-pathfinder-must-work-with-group-as-a-single-objectThe other one is a crude antialiasing.
See attached images.
Zara puts more shades of gray to show the slope of test line, while AI leaves more uniformly filled areas. It gets more noticeable when angle gets sharper.
Changing anti-alising options doesn't help.Please, make anti-aliasing better.
