I understand the frustration, however, while a normal webpage may be able to convert a single size 32x32 to .ico, the real issue for me, comes in the fact that Windows still doesn't support .SVG files for native icons (unlike MAC), and if you need to have multi-size .ico, there is no longer any working solution.
PLEASE bring back the .ico support, as Windows Devs and UI designers can no longer fix scalable icons!
