    Elizabeth, the team suspects that can be triggered by moving the original file to another folder while it’s still opened.

    Then, if Ai crashes, if can’t properly locate it and it leads to this exact problem.

    Does it sound like something that could have been the case?

    Illustrator (latest version) on my MacBook Air M1 running the latest macOS version became unresponsive, forcing me to close the program. Upon reopening, the unsaved file disappeared. The program claimed to have recovered the file, but instead, it opened an empty file named 'print.ai'. I checked the data recovery folder (I had two files open before closing the program, one of which had been previously saved and was recovered).
