CEPHtmlEngine "Video Wake Lock" triggered by Turntable rich tooltip, even with "Show Rich Tooltips" turned off; display stays awake until process is killed.
Environment: Illustrator 30.8.2, macOS 15.7.9
Problem:
Illustrator keeps the Mac's display awake, so the screen saver and display sleep never start. Nothing is playing and no dialog is open.
Cause found:
- pmset -g assertions shows a NoDisplaySleepAssertion named "Video Wake Lock", owned by CEPHtmlEngine from the Illustrator app bundle.
- The owning process runs the extension com.adobe.illustrator.OnBoarding.
- The assertion appears when the rich tooltip (with animation) for the Turntable button is shown, e.g. hovering over the button in the Control/Properties bar.
- This happens even with Preferences > General > "Show Rich Tooltips" turned OFF.
- The assertion stays active after the tooltip is gone, until the process is killed.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Launch Illustrator. Run: pmset -g assertions | grep CEPHtmlEngine (no output).
2. Hover over the Turntable button until the rich tooltip appears.
3. Run the same command again: the "Video Wake Lock" assertion is present and does not release.
Workaround:
Killing the OnBoarding CEPHtmlEngine process releases the lock. The tooltip did not show again in that session.
Expected: the wake lock is released when the tooltip closes (or never taken for a tooltip), and "Show Rich Tooltips" = off suppresses it.
