EDIT TO UPDATE: It must have been the file itself somehow corrupted. I opened a new file and no longer have this issue. Hope this helps someone else.

This is extremely frustrating. I have 30.7 installed.

Usually when I want to change a colour, I double-click the fill colour in the left sidebar. This then opens up the "Color Picker" window, and I use the gradient of colours that it displays based on the current colour, to pick the next colour. This is necessary for similar skin tones etc.

But now, "Color Picker" window opens, and it is automatically set to black? So the object changes colour to black. And the original colour is lost, and I cannot use this "Color Picker" window to pick the next colour I need on the colour scale/gradient based on the existing colour.

What on earth is going on? This never used to be an issue. I do not know how to get around it and I am in the middle of a project and this is a big roadblock for me as an amateur illustrator user.
