    This is finally addressed in the latest 30.8.0.7 Beta build, hooray!

    Clicking the soft area of a drop shadow (or any other raster effect region) no longer selects the object casting it. We can now click straight through the effect region to select whatever is behind it.

    Please check if it works for you and share if there are cases when you need the legacy behavior.

    Does anyone know how to add this back in? I'm used to this workflow and find very helpful especially when trying to see if a shadow goes beyond the artboard boarder or not.
