    We have the fix available in the latest release. Please update Illustrator using Adobe Creative Cloud application to the latest build for version Illustrator CC 22.1.

    For now I've come up with a work around where I duplicate an existing artboard by using the artboard tool docked on the left. The freezing happens when I select either "New Artboard" or "Rearrange All Artboards" from my tool palette that I have docked on the right side. Hope that gives you some more info...

    It's not the file because even when I start with a blank document and try to add an artboard it freezes.
