    on Version 22.1 (Adobe Illustrator)
    when you export or export selection, in the "export for screens" panel, Do not choose "1x".
    Choose "Resolution" and change to whatever ppi that you want the PNG to be.

    Then, you have to use Adobe Photoshop to open it and change image size (but keep the ppi setting).

    Example,
    image 1066x768px
    export to PNG (set resolution as 600ppi)

    Then on Adobe Photoshop, it will show 7493x4496px @600ppi
    Simply change the image size back to 1066x768px (but keep 600ppi)
    export as
