    This often happens when the bounding box gets accidentally turned off, presumably with the Cmd/Ctrl+Shift + B hotkey. You can turn it back on with this key or do it with the View > Show Bounding Box command.

    Another possible reason is having edges hidden, with Cmd/Ctrl + H (View > Show Edges).

    I have had the same thing going on for about the past 2 weeks... I have to restart Illustrator a few times before they come back on... Or... If I leave the program running for about 5 minutes without doing anything they magically reappear. Windows 10 64.
