    PDF page size is capped at about 5 meters & since the acrobat PDF standard is what ties the CS together maybe thats the reason why illustrator developers are reluctant to change something that can affect all programs in CS. To address that possible issue, designers are ok with resizing PDFs, we just need to work in scale as we do in Coreldraw & Flexi. So your illustrator fix neednt have to affect Acrobat & its PDF standard.
