Recolor now can be used for Freeform gradients correctly, allowing access to all colors used in it.

I have a similar bug in Illustrator 24, Win 10.
Previous function: combining multiple compound shapes (unite or minus front) used to work. It still does function correctly in Illustrator 23, however in the recent update it appears to only work if shapes are all grouped instead.
I've attached a set of steps to reproduce this bug as well as how to work around it. The Illustrator 23 label shows my previous work flow and how it breaks in Illustrator 24. My workaround only works for one or two compound pathfinder shape modes.
