   The problem is not fixed, alas, despite the previous fix, and everybody who tried to pick a Gradient tool after selecting a region with the Live Paint Selection tool can see this... OK, back to work with this.

   Ditto...I use this exclusively and called 'tech support' regarding this issue in CC 2019. They tried everything and finally were resolved to setting me up with Illustrator 2018. Not really a fix.
