   The team rolled out a change in the latest Beta 30.4.0.187, allowing us to clear the list with a dedicated command.

   Please try and comment back if this covers your needs.

   Notice we still can’t filter files in Recent menu/section to include only AI documents and exclude chosen formats (like PDF, JPEG, TIFF, Save a Copy, etc.) — upvote it if this is something you need.

   Why should there be a need to trash all preferences just to clear the recent files list? Can't Adobe just provide a button for this purpose on the Home screen?

   Meanwhile I have found a slightly onerous solution that avoids trashing all preferences if anyone is interested. https://community.adobe.com/t5/Illustrator/Clear-Recent-Files-in-Illustrator-Issue/m-p/10708928#M150709
