    I am having this same issue. I can't get the bounding box and have tried changing anything and everything I can think of. My cursor becomes like the following image, that some other fellow AI uses say they have never seen before either.

    I even checked "Dictation" to ensure it was not enabled based on similar type reports by users of High Sierra.

    iMac (Retina 5k, 27-inch, late 2014)
    Mac OS Catalina 10.15.1
    AI CC 23.1.1
