The thing you are talking about is the New Guideline Layout, right? You should have named that to make a reviewer’s life easier.
And yes, great suggestion, Ai should definitely adapt this.

The ability to create guidelines exactly as you can do on Photoshop.

I want to be able to split my artboard into sections columns/rows of equal measurements as I can do when designing on photoshop.

It's so limiting to only be able to choose guidelines by a specific measurement width apart.

I design files for print such as A3 - 420mm x 297mm
If I want to split that into 4 columns of equal distance - t's just a massive headache figuring it out, so I don't bother and do it by eye! Would much rather have an easy way to ensure it's accurate like I can on photoshop.

It`s really strange they didn`t copy this option from Photoshop (maybe they did in 2020 version, I don`t know), BUT
I just found a similar tool in the toolbar section on the left. It is called Rectangular Grid tool, and it`s located in Line Segment tool "folder" (see attached picture)

I completely agree, would save a lot of time whenever you want to drop some custom grid to your format. I don't know why Photoshop has this option and Illustrator does not.

New Guide Layout feature similar to what is in Photoshop. This will allow us to set up columns, rows and margins in one dialog box

i want to divide your canvas into x Number equal columns using Guides

by going into the View menu and choose “New Guide layout" check 0guide Line layout.jpg

and when clicking a window opens check guide Line layout.jpg toadjust the number of dividing area

and this feature added as shortcut in the "Art Board icon check Ai Artboard Settings/jpg

Also in the Document Setup window in the area we adjust the Bleed Option
