RETURN TO PREVIOUS VERSION EXPAND STROKE
PLEASE!!!! Return to the previous version of expand stroke. Where it KEEPS the stroke over lapping and doesn't turn it into a compound shape. SO frustrating that that is no longer available or an option. I might expand the stroke, but still want to make adjustments after(like make wider/narrower in parts), which was SO EASY previously. Now I just want to smash the computer. Eh. There are a lot of other changes I hate. But probably this is the biggest. Don't know why you would change things that have been pretty much the same for 20+ years.

I attached two GIFs to highlight the change.

Meanwhile, there is an amazing script called MojiDisassembler:

It is paid, but it worth the purchase. It dealt with self-intersections nicely, not only for strokes, but for almost all of them. -
Ah, THIS change! SURE. I remember having it before, but can't recall which version had it 'fixed'. Was obviously there in 10... in CS1... but just checked CS4 and it's not there. Will try to investigate.

It never used to make compound shapes, now it does. You used to be able to draw over lapping lines, let's say a fancy calligraphic C with loops. I want the C to be "hollow", just an outline, but not all 1 thickness. Set a stroke thickness, expand it, and still have those overlapping lines that you could play with, making the shape's width thicker and thinner. So I could easily have a bunch of Cs with varying thicknesses. Now it is so annoying trying to do things like that because it compounds it/flattens it. Instead one completely connected line, it now gets cut up.

Jennifer, can you tell me more about this? I'm curious. I never noticed any changes and I just don't understand what do you mean by saying that 'expanded stroke used to turn into compound shape' — how is that?
