Editable Illustrator text in AfterEffects

For years we have been copy and pasting text from Powerpoint into AfterEffects because the Illustrator file does not open in AfterEffects with editable text. Takes us ages and introduces many errors.

Illustrator file text should just open in AfterEffects in 2018!

    Please make Illustrator's text compatible with After Effects, just like Photoshop. It is so basic, why do I have do BUY Overlord for a such basic task?

    I would love to be able to convert to editable text in After effects from and ai or eps file in After effects , this is possible with photoshop layers, why not illustror?

    The ability to trace text in After Effects and to remain as text rather than having to copy and paste from Illustrator (just like you can convert Photoshop text to After Effects text)
