Put the Rectangle tool back into the standard and advanced toolbars
Put the Rectangle tool back into the standard and advanced toolbars
There was a bug which allowed to accidentally drag-n-drop tools and insert them into other tools’ subgroups.
It was fixed by introducing a special mode to enable this. No accidents with lost tools should happen. Please comment back if it happens for you in latest versions.

Chloe, the Rounded Rectangle tool is still there, hidden under the Rectangle tool. Usually you can hold the tool’s icon to open a tool group... does it work for you?
Perhaps you accidentally moved it somewhere else — there was a now fixed bug when moving a tool was way to easy and didn’t required enabling the Edit Toolbar mode.
If it still happens for you — can you provide some screenshots and explain this situation in details? I’d try to help.

Please bring back the rounded rectangle option, when I make a rounded rectangle under Effect it looks terrible, I can't control the corners of the rectangle as much either and it doesn't rotate well.

The Rectangle Tool is there already but may be hidden depending on what you selected in the tool bar. You may have selected another shape, like the circle tool, that occupies the same icon, but is a fly-out menu of alternate shapes.
Now if that is not what you are experiencing, if you want a perfect Square, use shift to constrain, otherwise rectangles are what you will produce, thus to add another button to do what the current one already does would be redundant and a waste of space.

hi there, today the CC installed advised me to install a new version of Illustrator. Install went smoothly, but I noticed when I opened Illustrator that the shape tool that lets me draw a rectangle is missing. The rectangle with radial corners is there; so I can make one and set the corner rounding to 0; but it isn't as fast and convenient as just drawing a rectangle with sharp corners directly. Is this a new feature? Or is this a bug? (I'm hoping it is a bug)
thanks!
