Make Pen and Scissors tools prioritize editing to a selected path
Am I missing something? can the pen and scissors tool prioritize editing to the selected path? If I'm editing a path behind another path it is often a complete guessing game when I'm trying to edit a selected path if it is anywhere near the top path.
I just don't understand why anybody would find it useful that a selected path would be ignored for another overlapping path when using the pen or scissors tools

I came here to write the same. If I'm trying to create a path around existing objects with the pen or curvature tool, the current path gets abandoned and the tool starts to edit the clicked object. I have 5 years of experience working with Illustrator, I NEVER needed to abandon my work on my existing path to start editing another object. In Coreldraw, the pen tool was one of my favorite tools, In Ai this behavior makes it very uncomfortable to work with.
I'm forced to lock or isolate all other objects to be able to draw a new path, this is counter-intuitive, the pen and curvature tool should only edit SELECTED paths, even if you click something else. and just in case this is a necessary feature for someone, you could add an option to the pen tool if you want to edit clicked path, or ad a shortcut "Ctrl/Comand + right click" abandons current path and ads an Anker point to the highlighted path.

+1, if that would be too hard (can’t get why), even „uppermost object“ would help.

if I am using the brush or pencil tool, and I have "edit selected paths" clicked, there is absolutely no problem editing a path no matter how many objects are above it. I just don't get why the pen and scissors, which are much more precise would require zooming in to 2000% or entering isolation mode to edit.
