PLEASE BRING BACK PEN TOOL!!! Curvature Tool SUCKS!!!
Please make a legacy option for the curvature tool to revert back to the Pen Tool I have been using the Pen Tool for like 20 years. I have found a work around by reverting back to an older Illustrator edition so I can again have that option. I WILL continue to do this because it is FAR more productive for me than using the curvature tool which I know well enough to say I am proficient in it. VERY UPSET HERE and I'm talking over a month of upset, not a bad day of upset. Thanks!! Adobe you still are the best game in town... Just stop breaking what is not broken!!
Hi Adam,
We have not changed the behavior or removed the pen tool, it still exists in the toolbar. Curvature Tool is a separate tool altogether, it has not replaced the Pen Tool.

Surprisingly enough I cant withstand the Pen Tool, is just so bad, not intuitive at all, I really have never get used to it, tried tons of times, but it simply does not feels right for me.
In the other hand I have been always and still in love with the curvature tool, is just so easy and intuitive to use, I can do all the shapes and ideas I want with it, it has never failed me a single time.
We got completely different opinions, but I do understand you want to use a tool you understand better, so I suggest you to use more the curvature tool, you will soon find it is really a good tool,
And btw, the both features are in the software, you have to select either of them using their icon or shortcut, both curvature and pen tool are in the software.

PLEASE!!! bring back the legacy pen tool. This pen tool F sucks.... really. It is so annoying having to click ESC to stop... the curvature tool is freaking useless.

Please give us users an option to use the good old pen tool as it was in previous versions of Illustrator, that is 'the legacy tool'. The way it is now in v26 is useless and annoying. Please stop fixing what was already perfect.

If you're easily offended, then just don't read any further!
So here we go and no, I'm not going to be polite:
You have been WASTING PEOPLES TIME FOR LONG ENOUGH AND COSTING US REAL MONEY - GET F*CKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE PEN TOOL DOES NOT WORK AS IT WAS, QUT LYING!
Now, put the "option / alt+click changes anchor to curve / to corner" back exactly where it was (yes, you guessed right, it was IN THE PEN TOOL).
AND THEN QUIT F*CKING AROUND WITH THINGS THAT HAVE BEEN WORKING PERFECTLY FOR 20 MOTHER F*CKING YEARS FOR F*CKS SAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks,
Everyone.P.S. whoever flags this post is a piece of s hi t. And you know it.

Yes, please revert to original version. The new curvature tool exists in most almost all nine workspaces. It is a headache to switch through the workspaces to find one that actually has the original pen tool in the toolbar.
Curvature pen tool is way less effective and intuitive for most users to handle. It is not user friendly, intuitive or efficient.
Adobe seriously need to conduct more user tests before pushing out such ill fitting tool that does not benefit the whole designing/illustration process.
Please DO NOT INNOVATE for the sake of innovating. This comes at the expense of users who are using this on a daily basis!

I don't think Adobe or others understand. There is the curvature tool and the pen tool. When you use the pen tool it now has a curve to it. Please bring back the old pen tool. I used it just before Covid. I too have used Illustrator for over 15 years. Now when I use it it starts to curve. What happen to the plain straight and drag and curve!!!! I've had to edit every single point in my drawing!!!!!!!! Nothing curves the way I am drawing to draw!!!!!

The latest updates have screwed up what was a very good and flexible Pen Tool - aaarggh!
I am going to delete the latest Ai 2020 and 2019 and go back to older versions from 2017...at least they work! -

For some reason, this phenomenon only kicked in with my most recent update (I swear, I used it last week and it was fine). I don't understand the logic of Adobe developers behind such a decision. I'm using a workaround of drawing in Photoshop and InDesign since the pen tool works much more efficient there. I'm also considering the installation of an older version.
Adobe used to be a great company but monopoly status is not giving the user the best service (it is no longer a product since the subscription model).
Typing escape every time you want to terminate a path is just not a productive way of working. I'm feeling as upset as Adam above and disgusted. I dream of the day when a viable competitor emerges.
The other issue I have with Adobe it that their apps are notoriously crawling with bugs and with CC e are forced to perform the updates and expose ourselves to every bug out there. I need an Adobe bug vaccine!

The pen tool is still there - I use it every single day. Press shortcut key P, or find it on the toolbar. The curvature tool is an additional item, it hasn't replaced the basic pen tool.
