Updating to 2019 makes illustrator useless - downloads tons of data upon saving a file
My workflow requires opening and saving AI files with large linked pictures, stored on off-site server with low bandwidth (around 5-6 MB/s). The linked files can be big, several GB in size. When I try to save my AI, it freezes and starts downloading at full speed of the off-site storage and downloads 2-3GB of data before it saves the AI. None of previous versions had this issue/feature. It is a big deal for our company, because we work approximately 1 hour on each AI and now just saving it takes 5-10min. We need to open the AI (sometimes it also downloads tons of data when opening the AI) then save a copy of it in both AI and PDF. Then save it regularly to prevent data loss if something went wrong, 4-5 times for each file. Then eventually save the final version again in both AI and PDF. With AI 2018 or older, saving a file was matter of seconds. With 2019, each save takes 10 minutes. So I save a copy in AI - 10 minutes. Immediately I save a copy in PDF - another 10 minutes. 5x10 minutes during work and then 2x 10 minutes when I finish my work, because AI and PDF. It is not an issue of our server, or the off-site server, because when I re-install 2018 or 2017, it works like a charm. This renders AI 2019 very useless because it almost triples our working time per file.

Súrja, is this still an issue in the latest versions?
