Customize Preset Stroke Weight
Not sure if this is in the right category but I would like the ability to preset the stroke weight to something smaller (or bigger) than 1px. If I'm using the pen tool for multiple things I find that the stroke weight of 1px can be too heavy & I can't see what I'm outlining in the fine detail I require because the stroke is so big, so I was wondering if there was a way to set it in the preferences window so that every time I created a shape or path with the pen tool the stroke weight could be customized to lets say 4px or .25 based on my input.

There is a way to do this.
Create an rectangle (or whatever), open Graphic Styles, apply the default black/white style to your shape, set the stroke weight you want, than Alt+drag this shape over the default style.
And every time you press D you’ll get this particular weight.This change will affect only the current document.
If you want this weight to be default for all new documents, you’ll have to locate and modify document presets Ai uses to base new documents on: Print.ai, Web.ai... Here is a comprehensive list by Monika Gause on where to find these: https://www.vektorgarten.de/illustrator-settings.html#12
Plus, you can setup your own document profile, with swatches and styles you need. -

I want to be able to change the pre-set values in the drop-down-menu for line thickness.
