Disable rotation shortcut in bounding box.
When working with small elements, the rotation tool interferes with opt+dragging to duplicate.
Rotation is not nearly as common a tool as simple manipulating/duplicating an object. Would prefer to use the Rotate tool when needed.

That is why I always disable bounding box — View> Hide Bounding Box. Have you tried it?
