Font Height Options - "Cap Height" option by default
The new font height option is great!
However, working in the sign trade, everyone including our clients (who are mostly Architects) specify text by cap height so we are constantly changing the default Em size to cap height.
It would save a lot of time and also eliminate any potential size issues with someone having the wrong option selected which could be very costly.

Such a good note - I have the same issue when working. It'll make much more sense to default as Cap height for consistency.

Hi Egor, thanks for your suggestion, that is an interesting solution, however it wouldn't work for all the existing documents we update and revise regularly. Let's hope this feature can be added.

Yes!! This would be so helpful!!!! So annoying having to change it everytime.

Indeed, there is no way to make it a default option... even if you open a document profile and update the [Normal Paragraph Style], Illustrator forgets about the option picked when you create a new document.
There is a workaround that you may find fitting — you can create an .ait template with the string of text in it. If it has a Cap Height option set for it, it keeps it applied when you create a new document from this template. And every next text object inherits this option, since the team fixed this option saved within a text range, not that long ago.
Not a perfect solution though, and I think that font height option should be allowed to record (and set!) in text styles.
