Copying and pasting from photoshop to illustrator doesn't work (ctrl c + ctrl v)

Shapes, images, gradients. Nothing. Whereas it works seamlessly the other way around i.e from Illustrator to Photoshop.

What is exactly you are trying to copy? Paths, text, meshes, gradients... what is the contents of your copied selection?
Does it help if you try to copy something more basic, like a simple path?
If yes — what exactly in your selection makes the operation fail?
