Space button is not working on the adobe illustrator. Can't correctly type the text.

Hm. Let’s try to figure it out...
What is the version you are having this problem with? Was it happening in the previous one?
Does Space work to pan when you hold it?
Does it work to reposition a shape created, while you are still holding the mouse button?
Does it work in any text field within Ai?
Does it work in Photoshop?
Do you have any text-related helper apps installed?
Does this happen with every other app, but Illustrator, closed?
