Make calligraphic brush support dashes
"Dashed Line" does not work. At all. Even default brush does not respond. V28.3 on both OSX and Windows.

Jon, there are 5 types of brushes in Illustrator:
calligraphic, scatter, art, bristle, pattern.
2 of them do not support and never supported dashes: calligraphic and bristle.
They are just designed for different purposes. The brush tip you show in your screenshot is a calligraphic '5 pt. Round' brush (that’s why Stroke panel says 1 pt, but the displayed weight is 5 pt)
To see the dashes, you’d have to remove the brush tip from the path. You can do it from the Brushes panel ('Remove Brush Stroke' button), or from the same looking controls in other panels, like Appearance or Control. This is not an uncommon topic.
Here are some posts (all three from Reddit):

I won’t hold my fingers even on it, but perhaps it will help to guide some users and gather more feedback.
Thanks for the report. -
Jon, you probable made a mistake... you say both 'can' and 'cannot' for Pen Tool paths... perhaps you meant 'Brush Tool' in one of the cases?

Paths created with Pen Tool cannot be dashed. Pen Tool paths can be. Neither can be used to create a custom brush with a dashed stroke.
