Bring back Duplicate button in the Contextual Task Bar
It would be very useful to bring back the repeat / duplicate icon in the Contextual Task Bar -- specifically when selecting shapes. Illustrator 2024 had this feature when a shape was selected. The 2025 update removed this feature.
Please bring this back, or allow users to customize the Conceptual Task Bar in the settings.

Yep. It’s not only the Duplicate button though, it’s a general possibility to customize this bar...
Again, requested separately :)

Thank you Egor for your reply. You are right. The command+C and command+F will copy and paste on top of the object selected and it is useful... but slow. A shortcut like Photoshop's (command+J) would be ideal. However, the point is.... they had a solution.... but then took it away. Stinkin' fickle gift givers LOL :)

Jodi, the Duplicate button was not the only way to put a copy on top of it. Paste in Front (if the copied object is still selected) does exactly the same...
But it requires using clipboard, and it can be very slow sometimes (and takes up clipboard slot in general) — that’s why this separate request to have Edit > Duplicate command exist: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/34134466
Another problem with this method occurs if you have more than one object to be duplicated. Paste in Front puts all copies in front of the topmost one, and not each one on top of their originals. Both behaviors can be useful, but only this one is allowed now. You can upvote it here: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447/suggestions/43311579
I’d love to have both the command and the button.
I know there is a plugin to add the command out there, but it should be just from the box. -

I completely agree with this request to bring back the duplicate button and the repeat object shortcuts on the contextual task bar. I went back to using the older version just to have access to this. The duplicate button is the only option that allows you to create a copy exactly on top of the previous object. Otherwise you have to drag the layer object down to the bottom of the layers box to do this and if you have a lot of layers it can be a pain in the neck. These two shortcut buttons are very important for those who use Illustrator to create SVG designs, patterns and art templates. Please bring it back or give the option to customize the contextual task bar. Right now, the task bar is virtually useless because it doesn't offer the shortcuts I use the most.
