Allow to display the artboard numbers and names above art
Instead of making a clipping mask, please make the artboard number and name visible on top of art.

Illustrator now offers to display the numbers and names of artboards on canvas, when using any tool, not only as captions when in Artboard mode (using Artboard tool) — with the recently added app level option in Preferences > Selection & Anchor Display.
By default, these are rendered below the artwork, to avoid situations when these names distract from the artwork or working with it. But when artboards have bleed, or some elements naturally protrude in the top left corner, without being clipped... in this case zooming out makes the names hide.
I doubt there’s a way to automatically compensate the position in these cases for all the layout that we build, so perhaps another option should be added in Preferences to allow these to be displayed above the artwork.

Artboard titles should not be covered by bleeds, when 'Show Artboard name on canvas' is enabled

When a graphic element extends beyond an artboard's boundaries, it covers the artboard name and number, making it impossible to see or select the artboard without using workarounds. This significantly slows down workflow, especially when working with multiple or nested artboards. Please keep artboard labels always visible or add an option to lock their visibility on top of all elements.

In the new version of Illustrator 2026, when a graphic extends beyond the artboard boundaries, it covers the artboard name, making it impossible to see or select the artboard. This is very difficult to work with, especially when working with nested artboards.
