Bevel tool for Embossed Shapes and Text - Fully interactive
A tool to create a nice 3D-looking edge to an object, making it look raised from the page.
It can raise the object visually, by using the colour of the object and creating light and dark sides to it.
It would be great to be able to change the light direction, light height as well as other parameters such as the type of bevel - round, chiselled, etc. to give your object a physical appearance.
To create the tool with teh possibility to drag handles directly on the object to adjust depth, contrast, and light elevation in real-time.
This would be so amazing. And other vector drawing tools do have this.

Also there’s this script: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p1MPhqORmnc
It’s hardly a universal solution, sure, but perhaps for some users it’d be helpful. to at least know about. -
I agree, and can only add that all the bevels Xara creates are raster-based. Once expanded (ungrouped in Xara), an object with embossing becomes a clipped bitmap. The modern 3D effect in Ai is not vector too, really, but I’d surely prefer the built shading to be vector.

Dear @Egor
To be honest, I find working with the 3D effects in Illustrator quite time-intensive.
A Bevel tool for Embossed Shapes would be a real game changer for the art I am working with—especially when I am creating garments. Effects such as bevels would play a central role for me here.
Having such an intuitive and flexible solution would enhance both the workflow and the quality of the final result when working with AI.

Xara again :) We can achieve somewhat similar results with 3D effects in Ai... but not the full range offered by that app. I can’t say need these bevels often, but I think I’d use them if I had the access to them.
