Type/Text Variables: file name, modification date, page number, artboard name/size, etc.
Please add Type/Text Variables/Insert Variables/Modification Date upon save. Same as InDesign.

Use Indesign. 25 years of using AI an I personally have never needed that.. Not that its not ever useful.. but they need to work on more important things... how hard is it to add a 1 to the corner of a document. Also, I bet there is a script out there somewhere.. might be a good idea to look.

It would be really helpful to have an option in Illustrator which can automatically fill custom variable fields like date, file name, etc.
I am working in print industry for almost 10 years and our primary software is AI, with adding the above option, it will help designers to save lot of time.
Appreciate your consideration for the above idea.

Please implement the ability to convert characters into current page numbers, identical to the InDesign feature. This would save extensive time and effort when creating documents in Illustrator, instead of manually doing this.

When setting up artwork sheets, we often have to use the same job info across many artboards - it would be great to have 'linked' information/type, so when you update text in a textbox/panel on one artboard it will automatically update on other artboards.
This could be done either by a table/panel which update, or being able to select individual pieces of info that you wish to auto-update.
This would be a massive timesaver when artworking!
