Yep thats what i got it for but its not there.....

While i am unsurre if this will be what sketch to vector is I lean very heavy on the image trace on the desktop version. It’s the main reason i take my laptop anywhere cause i tend to work on the go. So if image trace is added to the iPad it would free up space in my bag and it will weigh less.

Myself and a lot of others only use illustrator to vectorize our drawings so they can be used in electronic cutting machines. Being able to do it on iPad would be great. It’s a pain to draw it out on the iPad and send it to the computer for that one function. We were all super excited for illustrator on the iPad until we figured out that we couldn’t use that one feature.

Image trace, so important for students and the design world

Drawing Assist Feature announced last year in November. I don't think is currently on the beta version. Hopefully, they will add it.

I love the pen tool on the app, I'm astonished that there isn't a trace feature though - so important!

Adobe Capture, does image tracing from...and lets you open them in illustrator and photoshop on ipad

That’s a great solution for now! But i expect them to transfer that software over to the illustrator version soon, as well as the traditional image trace feature - the iPad has so much processing now that these apps can literally be the desktop versions - but i understand it takes time

Hi Antony, I had the same, solved it by using the capture app of adobe. Placed it in a library and then imported it in the Ipad app. Perhaps a solution for you too?

Not an original idea. I just am hoping that you have a plan to include the ‘image trace’ feature of the desktop version into the mobile/tablet version...

Great first version of the app! I definitely need image trace though. It’s very essential to to my job !

I’m impressed with the initial release of Illustrator for iPad. Adding image trace would make it an immensely powerful piece of kit to be able to continue working on Ai files on the go.

I use adobe illustrator everyday on my Macs. It is my job. I have been wanting an ipad version for years. I need the trace to vector feature asap!!!
