display of grey blocky areas

Sorry I cannot reproduce again.
Apparently closing the file and now after reopening this behaviour is not showing up.
Fortunately I have the screenshot otherwise you think I'm a fool :) -
Indeed, I see the report, thanks, my bad.
I see you have CPU Overprint enabled.
Just in case — does it happen in normal CPU and GPU modes, with Overprint disabled? -

In System Report attached here you got all my info.
It seems more connected to Overprint Preview… -

Your OS version, your hardware, your GPU specifically.
Does it happen with every file or only this one?
Is there a difference if you Hide Transparency Grid?
