Deleting swatches from Swatches panel unexpectedly changes artwork fill/mesh colors to black
Bug Summary:
When deleting multiple swatches directly from the Swatches panel, parts of the artwork on the canvas unexpectedly turn black instead of retaining their appearance or converting to unlinked process colors.
Environment:
App Version: Illustrator 30.8.2
Document Color Mode: CMYK
Steps to Reproduce:
Create or open an artwork containing complex shading, gradients, or gradient meshes that reference custom swatches.
Open the Swatches panel.
Select unused or referenced swatches and click the Delete button (trash can icon).
Observe the artwork on the canvas.
Expected Result:
The colors of the artwork should either remain intact (automatically converted to non-global CMYK values) or prompt the user for swatch conflict/replacement options without distorting the visual appearance.
Actual Result:
Specific segments/anchor points within the artwork (such as the highlighted facets and shaded tips shown in the attached comparison) automatically turn black/dark gray.

When I try to reproduce this, Ai just doesn’t allow me to delete spot swatches or color groups that has them that are used within freeform gradients on canvas. So it must be something odd with the file itself. Please assist and share the file, the part of it that matters for the reproducibility.
