3D for packaging needed, for boxes. We need to check the 2D artwork on the 3D model when the flaps on the box has to be graphically infinite or the graphics is in certain part divided on the flaps.
Solution for the boxes is to use the die layer for generating the 3D. Straight lines (joined) cut the artwork (cutting the bleed down, simulating windows) and the dashed lines can be used to simulate angles - creasing (simple renaming the object to a number = bend angle). This would be perfect feature for Illustrator, we can link any PDF into it and generate 3D, export transparent PNG, JPG or even 3D PDF for customer, for E-shops, for Photoshop. 3D model is sometimes better to use, specially when the box is a new never printed one. How much money and time it takes to create graphics, approve, to print it, then take it to professional photographer to make simple photos for photoshop to make finally a simple product advertising? Illustrator and 3D is the solution! Timesaving, costs saving.
