    Make it where 3D objects can be layered on top of one another. Right now, when in a group, objects can only be combined as opposed to layering them. When not in a group, objects can be layered, but the shadows do not cast accurately onto them. Instead, they are flat.

    All those who commented on the topic until October 16, 2023, are already added as voters there. If this is something you want to have for 3D and Materials in Illustrator — please upvote it. If possible — create new requests and bug reports about 3D, rather than commenting here inside. This will help the team to better prioritize efforts on making the feature better.     Make object layering a thing: make separate objects be able to stack on top and be placed behind other objects while still creating realistic shadows.

    Make separate/individual objects have the ability to be different materials when grouped
