This is finally available in Beta 30.6.0.75
When you replace a linked image in Illustrator, you can now choose to apply that change everywhere the image appears in your file (even across multiple artboards and repeated layouts).
How in works:
- Select one or more links in the Links panel and click Relink
- In the file picker, note the 'Replace:' dropdown below the options
- Choose 'All Links (N)' to replace every instance of that file in the document
- Choose 'Selected Links (N)' to replace only the instances you selected
- Pick the replacement file and click Place
Try it and leave a comment if it works and it works like you need it to.

I don't understand that this is a function that can be done in InDesign but not in Illustrator. Why?

Hello all,
The 'Apply to all' checkbox has been brought back in the Replace missing link dialogue.
'Apply to all' checkbox was removed when we introduced the 'Auto-relink' (search for missing links in this folder) functionality, as we though 'auto-relink' is going to take care of the 'replace all' workflow as well. But it didn't work as expected in few cases as pointed out by some of you.
Hence, with the latest release V29.2 (full roll out happens on Jan 9), we have decided to revert to the earlier experience whereby we are bringing back 'apply to all' checkbox and rolling back the 'auto-relink functionality.
Because of conflicts, both of these functionality cannot co-exist unless we make some significant changes to the relinking experience.
As we understand, 'replace all' was a important workflow for most of you, so we decided to quickly bring it back while working on the overall…

As stated in this request’s status update, the team had to temporarily revoke the 'Search for missing links in this folder' feature to make a way for the missing 'Apply to All' option when relinking, starting with version 29.2.
These two can’t coexist at the moment, and the team intends to come up with a better solution to allow both.

Hi team,
I received the email notification stating that the option to "Relink / replace all instances of the same image at once" is now available in Beta version 30.6.0.75.
However, after updating and testing it on macOS, the new "Replace:" dropdown menu does not appear anywhere in the place/relink dialog box.
Here are the details of my troubleshooting:
App Version: Confirmed I am running exactly build 30.6.75.
Steps taken: I selected a single instance from the Links Panel and clicked the Relink (chain) icon to trigger the native system dialog.
Interface options: Even with the options expanded at the bottom of the dialog box, the dropdown menu is completely missing.
Language testing: I tried switching the application language from Spanish to English (International) via Creative Cloud to rule out a localization/translation bug, but the issue persists.
It seems like this feature might be broken for certain macOS setups or part of an incomplete server-side rollout. Please look into this for the next build.
