This issue is probably happening because the artboard dimensions are not appropriate for raster export (i.e. are in decimals).
If you make x and y values as the whole numbers in the transform panel (not in decimal), then the extra pixels will not be added to the exported image.

That is the workaround, and it’s reported that it’s not always the case.

At the same time — Ai knows the size of artboards to be exported and yet it does not deliver the set sizes, which is not fair. The team is going to rethink the algorithm.

I lead a team of designers, and still design myself. We do a lot of social media in Illustrator. Size is 1080x1440 for a post. Sometimes when moving artboards around, the position X and Y of artboards get decimals like 5420.14 and then illustrator exports the post with one extra pixel like 1080x1441 and our social media tools don't allow these images.

It is such an annoying error and happens all the time. It would be great if an artboard always gets exported the correct assigned size, even when the position X or Y have a decimal.

    Thanks a lot.

I am running Adobe Illustrator 10.8.2, Mac OS GoldenGate 27.0.1, but this issue appears since many years and would be great to fix finally.
