   At the moment Ai does not support Color Swatches to assign artboard background color, and currently exporting a PNG doesn’t support respecting the color, as well as into some other file formats — but the team intends to add these.

   as Pierre-Francesco Costa said. But it would be nice if we could set the *default* grid colours to our choosing - e.g. dark for all (new) documents
