I've been searching and searching for a way to fix this, and yet still nothing!!! I've waited to "chat" with Adobe help for over two hours. Nothing seems to work. I've gone through ever "fix" that's out there to no avail.

Just wanted to jump back in on this as I'm having the same issue. No matter what I do (and I've done everything the adobe helpline has said to do) I cannot get .ai or .psd files to default to their proper programs.
I have to right click on each file and tell them to open in Illustrator or Photoshop. If I just try opening them then I still get a window popping open asking what program to open them in.
I was told to uninstall any previous versions of the program only to then be told to reinstall them and use the 2018 version vs. the 2019 as the 2019 version has too many glitches.
