Toggle to Disable touch input
Option to disable touch input, AKA pen mode, so that we can't (accidentally) draw strokes/shapes/etc while interacting with the interface or zooming with multi touch. Just like Photoshop does.

This app is infuriating. I am new to illustrator but I don’t think it’s just me. If they could fix this one simple thing it would save literally hours of work. I have to do things several or many time over. Simply because I want to zoom in to do a small section. When I touch the screen it chooses the wrong shape. I have to reset everything. And god forbid if the cursor is on the move tool. Can’t touch the screen at all. I have to leave a blank layer to go back to hundreds of times just so I can zoom in and out. I really wanted to use and learn this program. You have to have the patience of a saint. This isn’t art making anymore. It’s about fighting the buttons. God bless you if you are good at it.

Illustrator needs an option to disable touch object manipulation. Currently, on a cintiq when I have a path selected and I attempt to pinch and zoom the path scales or if I touch an anchor point, the anchor point moves. This needs to be disabled. This feature alone is forcing me to work in photoshop. Illustrator is completely unusable on a cintiq with touch. Why would anyone who has a stylus want to use their fingers to crudely manipulate objects. Its frustrating that a professional cant use this product so that someone with an ipad can fingerpaint.

This would be a toggle that users can set to on or off. This toggle would disable the touch input in illustrator on touchscreen devices. This would enable users to paint using a stylus, without their hand making marks when touching the screen. This is especially useful for individuals who rest their hand on the screen as a way to gain control when drawing. This can sometimes manually be done for the whole device, however, a toggle inside illustrator would make it convenient for users to easily change, as well as it would only effect the illustrator application.

why doesn't Illustrator behave like Photoshop in this manner? Photoshop and Illustrator should have parity with certain features like this.
another example, why doesn't Illustrator rotate in portrait mode?
does the Illustrator team ever use Photoshop?
