Custom presets for Asset Export / Export for Screens
When adding in your own custom sizes and suffixes into the Asset Export panel it would be nice to be able to save these out as a preset for later use.
For my job I have to export the same image into 20-30 different sizes with individual names (suffixes) that don't change. That's why I thought it would be good if you could set up all the file sizes and names once then save it out as preset for later use or to even share with a colleague.
It would speed up the workflow for many people if this was a feature.
Hi Everyone,
This feature has been shipped in Feb 2023 release (version 27.3)

I use Illustrator for a few different purposes: Icon design, screen mocks, wireframing. Using the Exports for Screens dialogue, for each of these tasks have different output formats:
Icon design: PNG, 3x scale, transparent background
Screen mocks: PNG, 1x scale, white background, some artboards omitted from the exportEvery time I switch from one task and file to another, I have to reenter these settings, which is very irritating as it can happen many times a day. It also reduces my confidence that I have enterred the correct settings.
I also have different output locations for each file.
The Export for Screens dialogue should remember the last used settings on a per-file basis, or allow me to save a custom settings set and associate that with a file.
This would be a huge help!

This is what I came here to ask for.
Working on several projects simultaneously and iterating on icon sets that have to be repeatedly updated with exports for app icons and several different formats for various applications... is a beast. It's a lot to wrangle to begin with, and then having to manually re-enter all of the specs every time a new iteration is exported is a huge pain point.

I saw some workaround which involved manipulating the settings files, creating one XML for each configuration, but that should not be necessary.

Sad indeed. I've been BFFs with Illustrator for almost 30 years , but even I find myself going to Sketch now when I know I'm going to be exporting and re-exporting a butt-ton of assets. I was really hoping CC2020 would add this basic AF feature—it seems like a no-brainer.

Sad to see only 39 votes here. This has to be an issue for any designer who actually uses the panel. deleting and adding over and over is very annoying- bad enough that I also have to keep changing the directory as well.

Crosspost from the forums and a bit more detailed than the existing requests in here from 2017:
I do use the asset export feature a lot and as useful as it is, there is a major annoyance that comes with it:
Different projects have different requirements to their exported assets. One project might be for print (cmyk), one for web (rgb), one for both. One project might use PNG and SVG only, another project only needs JPG files. Every time I need to quickly export something, I either have to change the color mode of the file (CMYK/RGB) or delete and create new export resolutions, go into the export settings and tweak them to match the project. This is no time saver, unfortunately.
Solution:
I would like to request a preset feature just like the PDF export settings window. This should be a combination of the all windows available in the asset export now.
In the "Export" panel you can still select the assets you want to export and below that you can only choose your preset from a dropdown list.
From the "Export" panel you can also choose the artboard tab now and select your artboard-export-presets from a dropdown list.
In the Export settings window you would have a left column where you can select "Resolutions" which opens a right side area where you would select what resolutions and filetypes you want to export just as you would do now. Below that in the left column there are all the filetyes with their respective settings as you do have now. Each resolutions has now another column called "Colormode" which lets you choose between CMYK and RGB (plus their color profile).
At the bottom of the settings window there are three buttons now: Cancel, OK, Save as preset ...So whatever project you are working on, you can just choose the right preset for the job directly from the "Export" panel, select the assets which should be exported and go. Voilà, we turned the "Export Assets" function into a real time-saver ?

Yes, this needs to be added. In Photoshop the Export As options is saved per file. Either need a save per file like Photoshop and/or the ability to save it so it can be quickly selected like PDF settings are within Illustrator.

Would also be good to export EPS files, rather than have to save as EPS as well.

I would love to be able to save Custom formats for exporting, I work with some developers that require at least 50 different sizes for 1 logo to export, it's a real hassle to go into the export setting > add 50+ scales, select width for each of them (because it always defaults to the next size it has in the dropdown when you add a new scale) > then put in a different size for each of them. And then there are 10+ other logo's that need the same treatment but need different sizes for various reasons. And after that I can remove all those settings!
Outside of exporting logo's and assets for developers, I also need to use the export settings for Marketing related exports, to make quick visuals etc.
So I have a lot of different presets I would want to save. And would also save me tremendous amounts of time.

I am a graphic design and often have to export hundreds of different sizes and resolutions of icons and logos for mobile app development, and I was so excited to see the "export for screens" feature, but the immediately disappointed that it was basically useless to me since you can specify the size AND resolution. Please add more options to this feature!! Thanks!!!

Agree with custom settings, but mostly, I just want the settings to save to the file and not be a global setting! It would save me so much time.
