Grid or Guides Calculator
Have a make grid or guides feature with a grid calculator that was artboard dependant.
- as in I could have different grids on different artboards
- proportional grids
- vertical grids and guides as well as horizontal
The amount of time I take having to set up grids, by drawing boxes and dragging in guides, to do my layout is enormous.
It is such a fundamental part of graphic design, I feel like it should really be embedded in illustrator. I have noticed that the new Photoshop has it. Also indesign has it. But really i need it more in illustrator.
(http://gridcalculator.dk/ this one is brilliant)

This is like so tedious that sometimes I go into indesign and create a layout and copy it into illustrator just to save time, and its such a basic feature of any design package that I don't think we should be needing to install 3rd party stuff to do it.
Great as your suggestions are installing 3rd party plugins means everytime you change computers you need to reinstall them. I also work in different studios and when you go to another working scenario they don't let you install software.

David, have you tried GuideGuide plugin?

Guides should also be artboard dependant or at least have the choice to be.

Agreed. Also surprised that this doesn't already exist. Creating guides by hand is difficult in illustrator without using some type of guide generator plug in like https://guideguide.me/blog/guideguide-for-illustrator/
