Fixed in the latest Prerelease Build 30.4.0.211, now available in CCD app for all Prerelease program members.
This means the fix is planned to be later pushed in the next general 30.4 release.
The timer for tooltips would now check if the pointer is still within the tool button bounds after the delay finishes.

Adobe Illustrator 30.2.1
Running on Mac Sonoma 14.8.2 (23J126)But to be honest this issue has been happening for about 2 years. All on Sonoma on 2 different macbook pros.
I think it's because hover time for overlays is too sensitive and maybe I am moving my mouse around and it triggers the overlay and it stays up. But I swear sometimes it just pops up for no reason.
My workspace has a lot of panes open as I like all my features avaiable but this should not really affect that.

The rich tool tips. I searched online and found that you can just turn them off. But literally they would just pop up randomly when I was working sometimes.

189 votesThis issue is probably happening because the artboard dimensions are not appropriate for raster export (i.e. are in decimals).
If you make x and y values as the whole numbers in the transform panel (not in decimal), then the extra pixels will not be added to the exported image. That is the workaround, and it’s reported that it’s not always the case.
At the same time — Ai knows the size of artboards to be exported and yet it does not deliver the set sizes, which is not fair. The team is going to rethink the algorithm.

I work in big company with good tech department but they don't allow install of 3rd party plugins. Now that illustrator is being used more and more with links. I feel that links should be natively improved.
Yesterday I spent 15 mins relinking files because someone moved a folder.

Hi Everyone,
We have fixed this bug in our latest release – v 24.2.1 which is available worldwide now. Thanks for your patience on this.
Please note that after upgrading you might still see that Align To sets itself to Align to Key Object. If you see this, please manually set the Align To to the required setting, and this reported bug will not happen again. You’ll need to this one time only.
The reason Align To might get set to Key Object after update is because Ai remembers your last Align To on subsequent launches as well. So, if your last Align To was Key Object before quitting/upgrading, after first multi-selection, it will set itself to Key Object. After you manually change it one-time, it will work fine.
You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html

We have done further updates to Dimension tool with recently released version - 28.3
You can create and use your custom scale for dimension, hide or show units on dimensions and dimensions are now sticky to the object - they transform as well when you transform the object.

Works as it should now, in 30.2.1 build. Please update and comment back in case it still misbehaves for you.

Was happening to me too. Please ensure this never happens again please. Has never really happened in the last 30 years of using illustrator. How can editing a text box trigger an undo feature? Are you trying to put us out of business!

I was running the version just previous to 30.2.1, I updated right after I sent my request yesterday and it seems fine now. But Really this should never ever ever ever happen again. And its something that is very hard to notice. So I am not 100% sure its fixed.
I was zoomed in and executed a bunch of changes and sent something to proofing, only for my client to tell me that all the layouts had moved.
This is super critical and as I say can have serious legal ramifications.

Hello everyone,
Lately we have been thinking about improving the snapping / smartguide experience on Illustrator and we need your help in this process.
Please spare us some time of yours where we can come together on a online meeting and discuss your needs and pain point around snapping.

Illustrator 2026 allows use to choose if we want Smart Guides to be limited to the currently active artboard.
We can toggle the behavior in Preferences > Smart Guides section, in Limit Snapping block, with the new Snap Within: Active Artboard.
Please try to use it and comment back to tell if it behaves as you expect it to. Any feedback is really appreciated and would help to shape it further.

Starting from the February 2024 release, version 28.3, this option is no longer enabled by default for new documents. If you had hyphenation enabled in an existing document, Ai will respect this.

Adobe Illustrator's Multithreading Journey Begins!
Dear Illustrator Community,
I'm thrilled to announce that we've embarked on an exciting journey to bring multithreading capabilities to Adobe Illustrator. This significant undertaking will enhance performance and responsiveness across various aspects of the application.
While this is a complex process that will take some time to fully implement, I wanted to share our progress so far.
Our Approach
We've strategically begun by focusing on the most computationally intensive operations—those that typically take more time and block the main thread, resulting in slower response times while you work. By moving these operations to separate threads, we aim to significantly improve your overall experience with Illustrator.
It's important to note that you may see more noticeable impact in some areas than others initially. However, we want to assure you that this is just the beginning, and we will continue this journey to bring improvements across…
