Allow freeform gradient points to leave boundaries
In the freeform gradient tool if points are dragged outside of the boundaries it deletes the point. Instead I think it would be better if the points worked outside boundaries to allow for smoother gradients.
See example on how a freeform gradient would appear if points could used outside of the borders (you can currently do it by using a clipping mask but it would be easier if it was built into the tool)

I absolutely agree. All other gradients are perfectly capable of having their control points entirely outside of the colored area, I see no reason why freeform gradients shouldn't allow this as well. Especially in cases such as compound paths where you might want to put a control point inside a hole.

Love the capabilities of the new freeform gradient tool; however there are some unusual behaviors and bugs preventing it from working as expected. Firstly, if you use direct select to move points of a shape around, color stops are deleted once they fall "outside" of the shape boundary. Normally, gradients can fall outside of a shape, and are visually "clipped" by the mask of the shape.
Secondly, upon reopening a document with freeform gradients, I have found that the gradients are static images clipped to a shape. When I use direct select to select a shape, it selects the gradient instead. If I move an anchor past the original gradient boundary, white empty space is shown.

Hi Mohammad Rimawi,
The Freeform gradient color stop which fall outside the Art boundary while editing the shape of Art or while creating Color Stop or drag a already existing Color Stop outside Art Boundary gets deleted.
At present it is working as designed ,Kindly log feature request if something else is expected.Regards

I found a bug in the new Update CC 2019, specifically with the new freeform gradient tool.
When the gradient point is on the edge and you shrink the corner radius, making the gradient point out of the bounding box it removes the point completely and removes major part of the gradient.
Attached a sample I made showcasing the problem.
