Line extension pop up tool tip
Please fix the smart guide's line extension tool tip when moving points if you are zoomed in. It currently snaps to the opposite end of the line, meaning if you are zoomed in (which you almost have to be because the tool is so finnicky to get it to snap correctly), you have no idea if you are extending the line correctly. A good fix would be to put that dialog closer to the point, if not on the point you are dragging out to extend, vs. the opposite end of the line.

holding cmd/cntrl has no effect on my machine in either the guides or line extension behavior. even if it did work, it is extra cognitive load because often the shift key needs to be pressed in conjunction with dragging, so it's a bit awkward to hold shift and control simultaneously. the problem for me stems with the idea that I want to precisely line a guide or point to a location and have the acknowledgment from ai that I have correctly snapped to that location.
i wish i would remember what project or shape i was working on when i put this original report so I could replicate the exact behavior. i tried my best to show the problem in the videos, and I think it highlights how some of the state changes can be frustrating for a user. it becomes very tedious if working on something with a lot of points and multiple selections and state changes occur.

A workaround for this would be to hold Cmd/Ctrl key, which forces Illustrator to use the 'Snap to cursor's position' mode. This way the label will be displayed near the cursor.
This does not mean the request is not valid though — Ai should be aware of the viewport frames and to not display the labels too far away. Voted. -
Both videos are now attached to the original request

Alas, the file is missing :(
If it gets dropped at UV, maybe some sort of external hosting can help? -

this shows the line extension appearing on left.

See attached. This suggestion was filed many years ago so it's hard to remember the steps to replicate it exactly. But you can see the user behavior in the video. It is extremely frustrating as a designer to have this fiddly sort of selection confirmation (especially if working on something complex or where many points are in close proximity). Sometimes it selects "path" other times "anchor." And sometimes "anchor" only after the guide is released with the mouse. When I zoomed in around 1:12 in the video there is another problem, I select the line, then the guide, the line is unselected when selecting the guide. Not sure what that is, I've never seen that behavior before. If the line is selected it should stay selected, the guide should always be it's own object regardless if a line or shape is selected. You can see in the video the "guide" tool tip pops up, then when mouse press the line is unselected, so it demonstrates I am not clicking an empty area of the canvas. It's things like this as a user of adobe products for over 20 years I just want to scream at the wall.

Andreas, can you please record a short video with a simple test graphics to demonstrate the problem to the team?
