Blend Tool Default Settings
I use the blend tool primarily to create specified steps between objects. The tool always defaults to smooth color spacing. It would be great to be able to set a default spacing mode. In fact, it would be even better if the properties panel showed blend tool options.
Illustrator today has a new Blend panel (thanks to this request), and it seems to remember the settings set, for all the documents, for all the app sessions. Please check if it solves the problems you had and comment back if you want to change anything in the way it works.

If use double-click the Blend tool icon in the toolbar, or open Object > Blend > Blend Options dialog with nothing selected — you can set the default settings there, and these would be applied each time a new blend gets created.
BUT — this holds only for one current session. When Illustrator get relaunched — it resets to Smooth Color again.Still I’d love for it to just remember the last used settings in general.

Completely agree with Mr. Rivadeneira. It happens frequently. I use the blend tool on objects, continue to work and then need it again, with different objects, but with the same previously used settings, or like Curt describes, the need to see blend options in the properties panel like most other tools and a check box to retain previous settings or reset to default with each use.
