As Jeron said in comments, Illustrator has the Lasso (but not the Object Lasso it once had: https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/44462988), and a range of Select > Same / Object commands, along with Global Edit function.
If you have any other specific request, please log them as a new separate ones.

Are you asking for them to improve the current tools? They currently have a Lasso and the ability to select objects by same color/appearance as well as other attributes by going to Select > Same > "Attribute"
