Option to place the origin of the artboard at the center of the artboard
I would like the option to place the origin of the artboard at the center of the artboard, so that objects can be placed at the center just by setting the position to zero please. This would also make it a lot easier to mirror object to other sides just by making their position negative or positive.
Thanks in advance,
Tim

@Egor, I use that all the time, but when there is art, the Smart Guides can be quite tricky.
An additional selector, like in the Properties / Transform would give a rock solid interface to this pro user feature. -

Yeah! That would be a real time saver. And maybe this new function should have a selector to set the origin on one of the corners or the center.

Thank you so much Egor! Better late than never and im really happy that I know about this option now:) I can live without the flipped Y direction but it is really nice to be able to offset stuff from the center!
Cheers, Tim

Tim, sorry for the delay, but in Ai you can move the origin whenever you like.
Display rulers (View > Rulers > Show Rulers), hold the intersection of rulers in the top left corner and drag it onto canvas. If you enable Smart Guides (or other snaps), you’ll be able to position it at a certain point. What you can't do though, is to flip the direction of the Y (or X) axis :( You can do it by changing a flag in the file in the guts of the app, but it has some issues. If you like, please vote for having an option for that here: https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657-illustrator-feature-requests/suggestions/32428157-allow-users-to-set-direction-for-x-and-y-axises
