All bounding boxes always visible
An option to show all bounding boxes would be useful. Currently, only the selected object is displayed with a "border". This would help to locate specific objects that are sometimes hard to see. It could look similar to how it looks after using the "select all" option. Probably the problem then would be to highlight the actually selected item. But it could be quick to switch on/off, or it could be in a different e.g. slightly simplified form (compared to "select all")

I offered this only as a workaround and to understand why don’t you use it. It is indeed a simple Select All with the bounding box disabled. Small squares are just anchors. Yes, they obstruct paths, but serve the highlight function well...
So you just want to replicate the InDesign’s approach, correct?

In my opinion, these small squares are not needed in such a view. They disturb the preview of small elements. Your example looks just like "select all". Rather, it should be a simplified outline like in InDesign. Actually, this view could look exactly like the one in InDesign. That is, a simplified outline in the colour of the layer in question.
My problem is to some extent solved by using the "contour preview" (CTRL+Y). In it you can see both the path outline and the text frame borders, but it is black and white and too simplified and it is impossible to work like that in the long run.

Ah, I see, that’s a good example. So the idea is an understandable one, but the solution you offer is not the best one. But I dig the point!

An example would be a white object on a white background. Another example is when I want to see how big a text frame is.
I don't know if I've described the whole topic well, but it's easiest if I show what it's all about with an InDesign example. I am attaching a screenshot in which you can see the coloured envelopes around all the objects.

I don’t think I get the reason behind this.
The bounding box is by definition is a single entity only, because it marks the focused artwork. So it’d be not wise to break a general paradigm just to ease a search which happens only occasionally.
But I wish to understand and help. Can you demonstrate a case, a screenshot of the artwork you struggle with? What objects do you want to locate with the approach you propose?
Also — please check 'Show Anchor Points in Selection Tool and Shape Tools' option, located in Preferences > Selection & Anchor Display (usually off). Does turning this on makes it’s easier to see objects, when you use Select All?
